HEADER Danaher Case study Embedding behaviours through interactive e Learning
In a nutshell

In 2021, we collaborated with Danaher on the design and relaunch of their new ‘Core Behaviors’. Last year, we took on the challenge of developing an eLearning journey that helped associates and People Leaders embed and apply these behaviors, developing their understanding of how they fit within Danaher’s Performance for Growth talent management process.

We created a series of bite-sized, interactive modules that took the learner through multiple real-life scenarios, using bespoke animated characters to tell the story and bring the core behaviors to life.

Overall, we created 12 modules, which were translated into 13 languages and launched to Danaher’s 80,000 associates.

The brief

Danaher has a unique culture that thrives on a continuous improvement mindset. The key that makes this work is a set of shared behaviors that are demonstrated by all associates, from frontline to senior leaders.

The challenge they had was in making sure that every associate understood how these behaviors linked with their overall purpose, values, and culture. They also wanted to give everyone a clear understanding of how the behaviors were embedded within the performance and development processes, so they could sustain a respectful, performance-orientated culture.

They wanted to do this in an interactive, engaging, and relatable way, giving associates the tools to take a lead in their own development, and empowering managers to have great performance conversations.

Having helped on the development of the Core Behaviors, we were well-placed to develop these modules, in collaboration with the Danaher team.

BRIEF Danaher Case study Embedding behaviours through interactive e Learning

Our response and delivery

We designed the eLearning modules with a mixed media approach, using a combination of video animation, quizzes, and interactive content to take associates through the key elements they needed to understand Danaher’s Performance for Growth process, checking in on their understanding throughout. This approach helped to embed learning in the moment and gave associates the skills to apply their knowledge back in the real world.

There were seven modules for associates and five for People Leaders, all between five and 15 minutes long and designed to be taken at a self-directed pace. This tailored approach helped associates and People Leaders understand their role in the development cycle and enabled them to see how the core behaviors played a part in this.

We also wanted to ensure the modules could be easily accessible for Danaher’s global community, so the module content and video animations were transcribed into 13 languages and packaged together into one journey, so users could select their language before taking the eLearning experience.

The modules were rolled out in phases, reflective of Danaher’s development lifecycle, meaning associates were provided with relevant information, at the time they needed it.
