Purplebricks had grown at an astonishing rate since it was established in 2014.
The business always had a strong ethos, but there was a danger of it being lost as growth continued. That‘s why they came to us. To align all Purplebricks people in a unified direction, we helped senior leaders embed the new values – the Purple Promises – and subsequent behaviours among managers and colleagues.
Purplebricks' senior leaders identified that rapid growth had the potential to dilute the ethos that had been central to the success of the business since inception. In response, they introduced the Purple Promises – a set of values to drive culture change and define behaviours throughout the organisation.
Our challenge was set: help managers understand the importance of the Purple Promises – and the role they play in exemplifying them – then give employees the freedom to explore and own the Promises for themselves.
We created a bespoke session for the Purplebricks managers' conference. The session included elements of questioning, coaching and storytelling to help managers not only understand the Promises, but reflect honestly on their own behaviours and the tone they set.
We then created a workshop-in-a-box for managers to run with their teams. This high-energy, engaging, interactive experience used discussion exercises, scenarios and commitment-making to help colleagues explore the Promises and how to bring them to life every day.
The combination of our management session and colleague workshop made the Purple Promises part of the Purplebricks lexicon.
The success of the programme helped colleagues make their own promises to customers, and each other.
