There’s been a huge surge forward in the use of Chatbots in internal communications recently, and we’re really excited by the potential applications for our clients.
But what do Chatbots do? And what are they really good for in the world of internal communications and employee engagement?
Well, if you’re short on time, I’ve pulled together a video to explain Chatbots and their use in IC.
Or if you can’t watch right now, read on…
Chatbots are digital programs that can mimic conversation with human types. And they’re made possible thanks to recent advances in natural language processing and artificial intelligence.
Why so excited?
The opportunities this presents are huge, especially in the world of Internal Communications and employee experience.
Chatbots are great in situations where there’s some kind of knowledge base or collection of information an employee might find useful, or where basic digital tasks need to be carried out.
A Chatbot could be ‘loaded’ with this information, and respond to questions about a topic, such as holiday entitlement. This can take a huge burden off of the HR team, who may respond to dozens of questions about these topics every single day.
Chatbots can also give the Employee Handbook new life; a Chatbot can respond to basic annual leave enquiries, share rota patterns, answer questions about rewards, uniform, or maternity and paternity policies.
What’s also helpful about Chatbots is that you can collate and see the kinds of questions coming in through measurement. So, if there are a lot of enquiries about ‘the new office in China’, maybe it’s time to do some follow-up comms on this subject?
