How do you reach colleagues scattered across the UK – on the road, in the office and at home – with limited access to online channels? You cut through with print.
Enter The Source – a colleague-led magazine that’s connecting colleagues with the organisation’s purpose, goals and strategy.
Each issue is a team effort – a collaborative editorial process with the British Gas communications team. We shape the details to make sure each story hits our objectives: to help colleagues understand where British Gas is heading and how it’s growing while offering something new, interesting or celebratory. Only then do we interview the stories’ heroes and pen the articles.
We always keep the colleague voice front and centre, so every issue is introduced by a guest editor: a fellow reader, reassuring our audience from the get-go that this is their channel. It also spotlights an individual. Twelve thousand colleagues is a lot, so sharing colleagues’ stories helps teams get to know each other.
We package each story in beautiful design, exceptional photography and even a custom envelope so colleagues know, as soon as it falls on their doormat, it’s their mag.
And it’s working: colleagues are reading it, leaders are loving it and stakeholders are clamouring to get into its pages. The Source has become the channel for frontline teams.
The Source is quickly becoming our go-to channel for key stories about the business. We’ve noticed a marked increase in engagement since launch and built a great partnership with scarlettabbott. Together, we’re telling the stories that matter and putting colleagues at the heart of everything.
